A Greenviille, N.C. woman died last week, the result of a Friday, Dec. 30 automobile accident on US 460 near Blue Ridge, according to the Virginia State Police.
Trooper A. A. Campbell is investigating the fatality that resulted from a wreck that occurred at 11:41 a.m. at the Laymantown Road (Rt. 658)/Blue Ridge Boulevard (US 460) intersection.
Campbell reported a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling west on US 460 and disregarded the red traffic signal at the intersection and struck a 1994 Lincoln Zephyr, which was making a left turn onto Laymantown Road.
The 2005 Chrysler was driven by Patrick M. Fay, 42, of Greenville, N.C.
Rebecca G. Fay, 38, also of Greenville, was a passenger in the vehicle and died as a result of injuries received in the crash.
Both were wearing their seatbelts. Patrick Fay was not injured. Two juveniles in the vehicle, one male and one female, were transported for their injuries.
The Lincoln was driven by Marijo S. Kellam, 30, of Roanoke. Kellam was wearing her seatbelt and was also transported for injuries received in the crash.
Patrick M. Fay was charged with reckless driving, according to the State Police.
The crash remains under investigation.
