Lou Ellen Jones Ferrill, 84, of Daleville, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Carrington Cottage Memory Care following a long illness.
Lou was born December 21, 1938 in Orange County, Va. and lived in Botetourt for 56 years. She was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Grace J. Rosson Jones.
Lou was employed with Botetourt County Public Schools for 27 years, serving as Clerk of the Board and holding many other positions before retiring in 2001. She was a member of Fincastle United Methodist Church where she volunteered with the Clothes Closet. Lou was an avid gardener and enjoyed her many flowerbeds and fish pond. She was a loving mother and grandmother and always put family first.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Berny D. Ferrill, Jr. in 2012; and her brother and sister.
Lou is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Tammy Ferrill of Daleville; daughter and son-in-law, Alisa and Kendall Gunter of Troutville; grandchildren, Samantha (Trevor) Honaker, Kaleb (his fiancée, Kayla Peregoy) Gunter, and Kenleigh Gunter; and one great-grandson, Camden Honaker.
A celebration of Lou’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 28 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville. Burial will be at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family received friends at the funeral home Tuesday.
