The popular “Kiss Me, Kate,” with Cole Porter’s music and Same and Bella Spewack’s play-within-a- play, includes a large cast of local actors and musicians. Shows continue Thursdays-Saturdays, August 10, 11 and 12 with evening curtains at 7:30 and a Saturday matinee at 2:30 p.m. In the play, the offstage events and relationships both mirror and complicate the on-stage performances. The original music and lyrics are by Cole Porter and the play is based on a book by the Spewacks that is based on Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew.” Katerina Yancey is directing, Richard Whitley is music director and choreographer is Kirsten Hamann. Partial funding is provided by the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. Attic Productions is located at 7490 Roanoke Road (Route 220), Fincastle.
