Robert (Bob) and Martha Edwards are celebrating 60 years of marriage. They met through family and were both freshmen at Lord Botetourt High School, which opened in 1959. After graduation and settling into new jobs, they were engaged at age 19.
Twenty-one was the legal age for marriage in Virginia, so they had to drive to Leaksville, N.C., to be married on October 9, 1964.
For 60 years they have made their home in Botetourt County where they have been close to many friends and family. Their life together continues to be fulfilling and a testimony to many who know them that love can be everlasting.
They are celebrating with their children, Angela, Kevin and daughter-in-law Garylyn and granddaughter Rachel at Cedar Hill Farm in Fincastle.
