In honor of the Botetourt County’s Sestercentennial, the Fincastle Library is holding a poetry contest April 1-30. The contest is open to all age groups. The grand prize winner’s poem will be published in the county’s official Sestercentennial brochure (to be published at a later date).
The poems can be in any style and any length, with the subject of Botetourt County history, heritage and local pride. Poets are asked to consider that in order to publish the poem, the length will have to be one of the judges’ criteria. First, second and third place winners will also be chosen in the age categories of adult (19 and up); Teens (13-18); and Young Poets (1-12)
Write your name, address, home library, phone number and poem title on a piece of paper and attach to the poem. Turn it in by April 30 at the front desk at the Fincastle Library.
