Fincastle Town Council will meet this Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Fincastle Volunteer Department Training Room to discuss business in the final meeting of the year.

Council will share updates on local business including an update on the ongoing Big Spring Park project. Throughout the year, the town and trail builders worked on a trail through the park that runs up to the ballfield closest to Breckinridge Elementary. Last summer, the town purchased 52”x40” magnetic white board with a weather resistant display cabinet with sliding glass doors for an outdoor classroom that is set off from the trail nearest to the school.

Last month, Mayor Mary Bess Smith provided an update about the $50,000 CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) planning grant. Smith mentioned that, as of last month, the town was on the search for a consultant to help the town use the money effectively. A Request for Proposals was placed in The Roanoke Times on Nov. 13. This Thursday, council plans on giving citizens another update regarding this process.

All of Fincastle Town Council’s minutes from this year and this Thursday’s agenda packet are available on the town’s newly refurbished website at townoffincastle.org/agenda-minutes-packets.php.
