The Troutville Volunteer Fire Department will host its first Charity Golf Tournament at the Ashley Plantation Country Club on October 18. Registration and a luncheon for players will be provided at 11 a.m., followed by a Captain’s Choice shotgun start at 12 noon.
The tournament will provide scholarship funding for high school seniors wishing to further their education in fire, EMS or law enforcement. Initially, two scholarships will be offered, one each to Lord Botetourt and James River High School seniors.
The tournament entry fee, limited to 120 golfers, will be $75 which will include lunch, cart and greens fees and prizes. A host of sponsorships will be offered, including a Lieutenant Level Sponsorship for $1,000, a Captain Level Sponsorship for $2,000 and a Chief Level Sponsorship for $3,000. Additional sponsorships are available. Prizes will include longest drive and closest-to-the-pin among others.
A brochure, including a registration form and rules package, will be available at golf pro shops, sporting goods stores, YMCAs and other locations in the coming months. A packet and other information may be requested by contacting Jim Spitz at jspitz@tvfd.org.
