Tristan Flood had a three-goal hat trick and Tyler Meadows recorded a shutout in goal as James River defeated Auburn in soccer Monday night. The Knights took a 5-0 win in Riner.
“We played a very controlled game,” said coach Jared Whiting. “We played solid all night. This was the most confident and relaxed game we have played yet. Everything fell into place.”
In addition to Flood’s three goals, Jacob Wagner and Tyler Whiting had one each. Ben Woody had two assists and River Clonch and Dalton Simmons had one each.
The Knights are now 9-3 and are scheduled to play at Giles tonight. On Friday they wrap up the regular season with a home match against Glenvar, then it’s on to the Conference 38 tournament.
“We have progressed well and things are looking good for the playoffs,” said coach Whiting.
