The Floyd County golfers continued their domination of the Three Rivers District golf regular season tour with the low score at the Botetourt Golf & Swim Club last week. The Buffaloes have had the low score at every district match in the young season.
Last Thursday at Botetourt, Floyd shot a 309, led by medalist Peyton Mason’s 70. Radford was second at 322 followed by Carroll County at 336, Glenvar at 339, James River at 341, Alleghany at 344 and Patrick County at 351.
River was led by sophomore Landon Bolling, who shot 75. That was one stroke better than fellow soph Mason Gilliland’s 76. Mason Francis had 88 and Elizabeth Johnson had 102.
“The team played their hearts out, some of the best golf of the season,” said coach Donna Cox. “Mason had his best ever match score and Elizabeth dropped nine strokes over her last outing at Great Oaks. This young team is so fun to watch and they work every day at improving their game. The future of James River golf is extremely promising.”
The Knights were scheduled to play a match at The Homestead on Monday of this week, but that was cancelled as Bath County does not have a team.
