Botetourt County high school choirs were well represented at the February All-Virginia auditions at George Washington High School in Danville. Three students from Lord Botetourt High School and one from James River High School auditioned with the hope to be accepted to perform in Richmond in April as a member of the mixed or treble All-Virginia choirs.
This is a very competitive audition given that only 24 singers are selected out of a large district which includes much of Southwest Virginia. All four were chosen. Lauren Fox was chosen from JRHS and Hannah Martin and Delaiah Pittman from LBHS. Amy Parris was chosen as a first alternate from LBHS. Lord Botetourt’s choir is directed by Joel Bremner and James River’s choir is directed by Pam Stump.
“Regretfully, the three days of rehearsal and performance in Richmond were cancelled because of the pandemic,” Bremner said, “but this doesn’t change the impressive fact that 100 percent of Botetourt’s girls who auditioned made the cut!”
