Nicholas Francis with his Eagle Scout Project, an information kiosk for the Botetourt Beekeepers Association at Botetourt Center at Greenfield.

Nicholas Allen Francis of Boy Scout Troop 211 in Daleville has completed his Eagle Scout Award.

His Eagle Scout project consisted of planning and constructing an informational kiosk for the Botetourt Beekeepers Association. The project provides a space for the local beekeepers to post information about honeybees and the impact they have in the community and around the world.

It is located at Botetourt Center at Greenfield near the head of the Cherry Blossom Trail where anyone using the trail will easily be able to see it and the information it displays.

Francis gave special recognition and thank you to the following organizations for their help in supporting the project with contacts, funds and supplies:

  • Botetourt Town and Country Women’s Club
  • S.J. Neathawk Lumber (Covington)
  • The Landscape Store
  • Botetourt Kiwanis
  • United Methodist Men and Women at St. Mark’s UMC Daleville
  • Botetourt County Parks and Recreation
  • Botetourt Beekeepers Association
  • Numerous Scouts and adult volunteers who helped with the project

This project completed the journey to Eagle Scout after years of rank advancements, merit badges, service projects, active troop participation, leadership positions and numerous other required Scout skills.

Troop 211 leaders, Scouts, families and friends offered their congratulations to Francis.
