Daleville Town Center is expected to be a busy place Friday evening during the second Taste of the Roanoke Valley Food Expo.
The Expo runs from 4-8 p.m. and will feature any number of locally-grown and produced foods—from fresh veggies to creamery ice cream.
The area Virginia Cooperative Extension Service offices are sponsoring the Food Expo on cooperation with Botetourt County Parks, Recreation & Tourism and a number of businesses and producers.
Those attending will have the opportunity to taste the freshness and flavor of locally grown food with samples of locally produced, in-season fruits, vegetables, beef, pork, lamb and poultry.
Tickets are $3 each (children 12 and under free with paying adult) and are available by calling the Botetourt Extension Office at 473-8260 or at the Expo.
Additional events throughout the day include cooking demonstrations; interactions with local food producers; educational sessions about food preservation, fall gardening, and more; plus live music.
The Food Expo will also feature a chef’s challenge where local chefs are challenged to prepare entrées with local foods.
Sponsors and vendors include producers from the Botetourt Family Farm’s: Hillbilly Heaven, Ellen Morrow, & Molly Coffee Company.
