The Region 3D tennis tournaments for girls and boys are scheduled to begin on Saturday of this week and the LB girls will open at home. The girls will host an opening round match at Hollins University with the time and opponent still to be determined at press time.
Both teams were scheduled to wrap up the regular season with matches against Franklin County on Tuesday, but rain forced postponement of both and they’re now scheduled for Thursday. The boys will host the Eagles at Hollins and the girls go to Rocky Mount.
Botetourt’s girls are 9-0 in the BRD and 12-2 overall. Last Friday at Hollins they shut out Northside, 9-0, on “Senior Night” as LB honored seniors Zoe Brown, Kadence Overstreet and Aliyah Honaker.
“It has been an honor to coach those girls,” said LB coach Sam Belcher. “My wife and I have loved getting to know them and be a small part of their senior year. I am proud of the women that they are becoming.”
The boys tennis team won at Northside Friday, 6-3. They’re 6-3 in the district and 6-9 overall.
