Greenfield Elementary School students Mia Etzler and Holly Weddle recently came away with winning the Elementary Division’s First Place Regional Team honors in the 2021 Stock Market Game.
The Botetourt County School Board recognized the students at last week’s monthly meeting. Lisa Grinell, the Gifted Resource Teacher at Greenfield, introduced the students to the board and others in attendance.
Grinell mentioned that 2021 was the first year of the game an Elementary Division.
The game is designed to familiarize elementary school students with the stock market, how it works, and how better to understand buying and trading in the real world.
Etzler and Weddle had roughly $100,000 to use in buying and trading stocks. In a couple of months, they turned an impressive $3,000 profit.
