Fincastle Chapter 797, United Daughters of the Confederacy, met August 3 to announce the UDC Essay Contest Virginia Division student winner, Kelsi Hammons. She is a three-time winner and a junior at James River High School.
Hammons read her winning essay, “The Legacy of Hunter Holmes McGuire,” to the chapter members and her family.
Chapter members collected back-to-school supplies and delivered them to Glen Cove, Eagle Rock and Cloverdale Elementary Schools where they were much needed by the students.
