Helen Farrow Keith, 87, of Buchanan, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 1, 2021 surrounded by her family.
Known affectionately as “Granny”, she was a longtime member of Virginia Presbyterian Church serving in numerous roles and as of late, the oldest member of the church. Helen was one of the “lunch ladies” in the cafeteria at Buchanan Elementary School for numerous years. Helen was a hard worker all her life and was a caregiver to many. All who knew Granny knew what a “firecracker” spirit she had. She loved the outdoors, her flowers, her gardening, but most of all, she loved her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas E. Ayers and Curtis F. Keith; parents, William and Ruby Farrow; brother, Elburn Farrow; and sisters, Barbara Miller, Mary McFaddin, and Margie Goodbar.
She is survived by her children, Gay Gladson, Dolly Montgomery, and Wayne and Susan Ayers; grandchildren, Jason Monaghan and Amanda (Matt Trammell) Montgomery; great-granddaughter, Maren Trammell. She is also survived by Curtis’s children, Kathy (Bob) Semales, Steve Keith, Lynne (Larry) Chewning, Sue (Perry) Freeman, Trish (Bill) Pirtle, and their children and grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Farrow; sister, Joyce Maynard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 6, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home. Interment will be held privately after the service.
