The Lord Botetourt and James River basketball teams have been preparing for the winter season, which is set to open next week. Both LB teams and the River girls open on Tuesday.

The Cavaliers will open against Blacksburg, with the boys at home and the girls on the road. The James River girls will also open on Tuesday under new coach Ryan Firebaugh. The Knights will host Bassett.

The James River boys won’t open their basketball season until Monday, December 6, when the Knights play Class 4 George Washington High in Danville. The Knights had been scheduled to open on December 3 at home against Parry McCluer but that game has been postponed until February 7 of 2022.

The James River wrestling team will open on Friday, December 3, with a tournament at Parry McCluer. The LB wrestlers open on Saturday, December 4, with a round robin at Wilson Memorial.

Both swim teams open with a meet at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center on December 4.
