Football practice for James River and Lord Botetourt High School begins this week, with both teams starting preseason drills on Thursday.
James River will go from 4-9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday under first year head coach Tim Jennings. The Knights will practice on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and next week they’re back to their evening schedule.
River will open the season at Stuarts Draft on August 30.
The Knights will host a scrimmage with Rockbridge County on August 16 at 6:30 p.m. and play a benefit game against Auburn, also in Springwood, on August 16.
Lord Botetourt’s first practice is August 1sas well. The Cavaliers will begin at 3:45 p.m. and continue evening practices next week.
Both of LB’s scrimmages are on the road. The Cavs are at Charlottesville on August 15 and at Magna Vista for a benefit game on Friday, August 23. LB will open the regular season at Brookville on August 30.
