Travis L. Hull, Construction and ORE Manager with Bank of Botetourt, Troutville, was among the 60 Virginia bankers who graduated on August 3 from the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
The three-year school is sponsored by the Virginia Bankers Association in cooperation with the Darden School of Business at the University.
Bruce Whitehurst, VBA President and CEO, commented about this year’s graduating class, “We are proud of the 60 bankers who graduated this year. These students have developed a range of skills that will both enhance their current performance, as well as qualify them as potential candidates for advancement within their institutions. Additionally, the connections they have made with other students will benefit them both personally and professionally for years to come.”
The Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management provides a multidimensional banking educational experience. Building upon the industry knowledge and experience of its highly qualified instructors and challenging curriculum, students are able to broaden their repertoire in banking, economics and other industry related subjects. Graduates completed three one-week summer sessions and eight home study problems, and participated in a BankExec simulation, which allowed them the opportunity to make decisions acting as senior officers of a bank. Bank of Botetourt currently has two other employees enrolled in the school and has had twenty-three employees graduate from the program.
Established in 1893, the Virginia Bankers Association is the unified voice for commercial and savings banks in Virginia. The VBA maintains an active legislative advocacy program, provides training to bankers statewide, and provides a variety of products and service to help its member banks best serve their communities.
Chartered in 1899, Bank of Botetourt operates 12 retail offices in Botetourt, Rockbridge, Roanoke, and Franklin counties and the City of Salem, and operates a mortgage division, Virginia Mountain Mortgage and a financial services division, Botetourt Wealth Management.
