Lord Botetourt grad Lyndsey Hunnell competed on the Xavier women’s golf team that completed a record-breaking tournament on Monday, winning the team title at the MAC Fall Preview in Noblesville, Indiana.
Hunnell tied for the team lead on day three, turning in a 75 (+3) to solidify a tie for fourth individually. The fifth year led the field with 41 pars and now has consecutive top-20 finishes for XU.
The Musketeers carded a 308 (+20) in the final round, moving up a spot to overtake Toledo in the final round. XU completed the event with a team score of 883 (+19), which broke the school 54-hole record held previously by the 2009-10 team (892 at the Lady Pirate Invitational).
The Musketeers broke both 18-hole scoring records, low score and versus par, when they carded a 284 (-4) on Sunday. The previous low 18-hole score was set by the current team last weekend at the Princess Anne Invitational with a score of 285.
XU also broke the versus par 18-hole scoring record with their 4-under performance, the previous record was set by the 2013-14 team at Oak Creek CC in the Red Rocks Invitational at 289 (+1).
