James Allen “Jim” Goodwin, 75, of Daleville and formerly of Rushylvania, Ohio, left this world to go live in the house of the Lord Monday, August 16, 2021.
He leaves behind a heartbroken wife of 53 years, Claudia Dally Goodwin; his three children, Gregg (Julie), Shannon (Barton Sweeney), and Johnny (Whitney); eight grandchildren, Tyler, Sydney, Tori, Tailyn, Teagan, Trevor, Ainsley, and Ellis; and his sister-in-law, Debbie Goodwin of Kentucky. Jim was preceded in death by his parents T.H. (Jim) and Mary Barney Goodwin; and his brother, Larry Goodwin.
He will be forever remembered for his quick smile and the way he could brighten any room. Jim was a faithful member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church where he was the leader of the Round Table Sunday School class. He spent his career in the grocery business with his start in his family IGA store in Rushylvania, Ohio; eventually migrating south with his family to settle in Daleville where he continued to work in the grocery industry.
A celebration of Jim’s life was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 21 at Rader Funeral Home, Daleville, with Pastor Terry Clark officiating. Burial was in Godwin Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Friday.
