The James River boys fell to a strong Radford team in the opening round of the Region 2C soccer tournament last week. The Bobcats advanced to the region quarterfinals with a 3-0 win over the Knights in Radford.
“We played solid soccer but it wasn’t enough to win,” said River coach Jared Whiting. “At least we ended the season playing some quality soccer.
“Overall, we had an on-and-off season. We didn’t have the consistency we needed but looking from the beginning of the season to the end we made huge improvements, so I consider the season a success. I’m proud of how hard the team worked all season. They played hard and played with great sportsmanship throughout the season. I am very fortunate to be able to work with a great team of dedicated athletes.”
