This year’s Jennifer Coon Award recipients are Carter Baka-Collins (left) and Ethan Spickard (right). This award is given to fifth grade Breckinridge Elementary students who show exemplary character during the years that they are in elementary school. The memorial award was established in honor of Jennifer Coon, a former student at Breckinridge, who is fondly remembered for her exemplary character.
Each year teachers and staff members at Breckinridge nominate students from preschool through fifth grade who exemplify the qualities of strong character – responsibility, caring, trustworthiness, fairness, respect and citizenship. These students receive certificates to honor their nominations.
Students are chosen from the nominated fifth graders to receive the award. They receive engraved plaques and their names are engraved on the Breckinridge plaque, which hangs in the hallway showcase.
