Josephine “Jo” Collins, 93, of Cloverdale, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, June 10, 2021.
She was born in Hot Springs May 21, 1928 and was the daughter of the late George Mason and Elsie Armstrong Carpenter. In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, James “Ed” Collins; granddaughter, Laurey Carter; daughter-in-law, Debbie Collins; two brothers, and two sisters (most recently by her sister Clarice Rodgers two weeks ago).
She is survived by her sons, Michael Collins of Hardy, Frank Collins of Cloverdale; daughter, Brenda (Tom) Fowler of Buchanan; stepsons, Jimmy (Margo) Carter of Lexington, S.C., Robert “Butch” (Diana) Carter of Belchertown, Mass.; grandchildren, Greg (Shonda) Fowler, David Fowler, Tara Carter, Jason Carter, Penny (Scott) Moore; great-grandchildren, Travis (Rachel) Sheppard, Trinity Moore, Samantha Carter, Lauren (Jessie) Moore, William Fowler, Jacob Fowler, and Andrew Fowler; great-great-grandchildren, Dillon, Jake, Mason, Paisley, Jack, Sophie, and Aiden; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of Jo’s life was held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 14, at Mill Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Quirin officiating. Burial was in Mill Creek Cemetery. Friends were received at the church one hour prior to the service.
