The James River girls jumped out to a 19-2 start in the first quarter and never looked back as they defeated Bassett in a basketball game in Springwood last Wednesday.
River led 31-7 at the half, then upped the lead to 49-15 before calling off the dogs in the fourth quarter. Caitlin Canada had 13 points to lead the Knights, Lexi McCullough had a dozen and Keira Crawford had eight. Nine different girls scored for River.
Now 6-1, the girls are off this week before returning to action on Tuesday, December 27, at Rockbridge.
