Alice Louise Kassens, PhD., of Fincastle and the John S. Shannon Professor of Economics at Roanoke College, has been reappointed to Virginia’s Joint Advisory Board of Economists under the Secretariat of the Commonwealth, according to an announcement about appointments to Gov. Ralph Northam’s administration.

The advisory board was established by the General Assembly to review the governor’s estimates of general fund revenue, transportation fund revenue major non-general fund revenue for “a prospective period of six years.” The governor is required to present his estimates by December 15 each year.

The advisory board is chaired by the Secretary of Finance and consists of the staff director of the House Committee on Appropriations, the staff director of the Senate Committee on Finance, and 15 non-legislative citizen members.
