The Lord Botetourt volleyball team remained undefeated with two wins last week as senior Jordyn Kepler set a new LB career record for assists.
Kepler broke Emily Spickard’s record when she dished out her 2,273rd career assist in last week’s win over William Byrd. Jordyn finished with 37 assists in that match, then handed out 30 more in a win over Staunton River in Daleville last Thursday.
“I can’t say enough good things about Jordyn,” said LB coach Julie Conner. “She does a wonderful job running our offense. She’s had a lot of good hitters around her and she’s makes very good decisions. She moves the ball around well and our girls play so well together.”
Kepler has been the setter on back-to-back state championship teams and the Cavaliers are looking to make it three in a row this year. So far they’ve dominated the competition, winning all nine matches and none of the matches have been close.
Last week in Vinton the Cavaliers beat Byrd, 25-10, 25-17 and 25-13. Miette Veldman had 15 kills for LB while Ryanna Clark had eight and three girls had five each, Taylor Robertson, Parker Hudson and Annelise Wolfe. Kenleigh Gunter had 11 digs and three aces.
On Thursday at home the Cavs eased by Staunton River, 25-9, 25-7 and 25-14. Robertson led LB with 18 kills in this one along with seven digs. Veldman had 13 kills and Clark had 11.
