Louise Paxton Kessler, 97, met her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 2, 2024 with family by her side.
Louise was born in Buchanan to the late Cecil and Myrtle Hall Paxton. She and her younger brothers were raised on a farm near the community of Springwood. Her brothers, Howard Lee Paxton and Roy Malcolm “Buddy” Paxton, preceded her in death.
Louise married Harold Kessler and together they raised four children: David Kessler (Violet), Linda Weade, Pat Brugh (Edward), and Phyllis Irvine (Milton). Her son-in-law, Monte Weade, preceded her in death, as did her husband of 31 years.
Louse provided a loving home for her family and was an excellent cook. She worked over the years as a waitress at various restaurants in Buchanan, retiring from Greenwood Restaurant in Troutville after many years of service. She was a lifelong member of Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church in Springwood.
In addition to her children, Louise is survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Forrest Kessler (Megan) and David and Haidyn Kessler, Shana Kessler Carter (Billy) and Tyler Carter; Valerie Brugh (Daniel Watts); Amanda Brugh Peay (Jeff) and Virginia Peay Ciccarelli (Anthony), Luke and Annabelle Peay; Shannon Irvine Childress (Keith) and Amber Westcott (Nate), Aaron Robertson (Elena), Riley and Mya Childress; Paul Irvine (Teresa) and Tyler Irvine (Emily), Kirsten and Jenna Irvine; and Michelle Irvine Tanoukhi (Adam) and Aden and Aken Tanoukhi.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with the Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. Morris Bennett officiating. Burial will be private. Flowers are beautiful; however, the family requests donations to be made to the Andrew Chapel Cemetery Fund or the Building Fund, P.O.
