It has been a busy couple of weeks for the Kiwanis Club of Botetourt. Hiawatha Nicely, a former Kiwanis Lieutenant Governor, delivered 150 Kroger and Food Lion Gift Cards to the Botetourt Food Pantry for families to use for Thanksgiving or Christmas meals.
The Lord Botetourt High School Key Club gathered and delivered baskets to first responders, teachers, and others who have performed above and beyond the call of duty during the pandemic. Club President Olivia Turner gave the club members a report on this activity during the club’s November 23 meeting. The baskets contained fruit, tea, chocolate and a note from the club with best wishes and a thank you. The Key Club advisor is Lynne Bolton.
The club continues its weekly recognition of local businesses. This week the Restaurant of the Week is Foot of the Mountain and the Business of the Week is Penelope’s Shop. Next week, Yo Mian and Outdoor Trails will be recognized.
The next meeting of the Kiwanis Club, via Zoom, will take place on Monday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. To be included in the Zoom call, contact Club President Ed Lynch at elynch@hollins.edu.
