The Botetourt Kiwanis Club held their most recent meeting at Frank’s Pizza in Cloverdale, with some members joining via Zoom. At the meeting, the club heard from Matt de Simone, editor of The Fincastle Herald. de Simone told the members of his plans to connect the newspaper with the community.
Lynne Bolton told her fellow Kiwanis members of the urgent need for applications for the Kiwanis college scholarship program. Botetourt County high school students are urged to apply by getting in touch with their school’s guidance counselors.
The club continues its weekly local business recognition project. This week, it urges Botetourt residents to patronize Bellacino’s and Bryant Orchard Store, both in Daleville.
Members set the date of Saturday, May 22 for its Spring Recycling Event. Lyn Hayth, president of Bank of Botetourt, presented the club with a $500 check for the event, and told of the bank’s plans to spread the word about the event, to be held in the parking lot of Lord Botetourt High School.
