The Botetourt Kiwanis Club met on Friday morning, via Zoom, and decided to return to hosting its annual golf tournament this spring, after cancelling the event in 2020 due to restrictions related to the pandemic. Details will be released soon. Proceeds will benefit the Kiwanis scholarship fund.
The club also heard a report from the Key Club at Lord Botetourt High School. Key Clubbers partnered with a church group in Bonsack and put together 21 Valentine’s Care Packages for five assisted living adult homes in Botetourt County. They also purchased 13 chocolate heart boxes to give to the staff members who work in the homes. Club member Lynne Bolton, who advises the Key Clubs, delivered the report.
The club continues its Restaurant of the Week program, recognizing Ransone’s Sandwich Grill Restaurant in Buchanan this week. The Business of the Week is the YMCA.
The next meeting of the Kiwanis Club will be Monday, March 8 at 7 p.m. (The club alternates between a Monday evening meeting and a Friday morning meeting.) To be included in the meeting, contact Club President Dr. Ed Lynch at elynch@hollins.edu.
