The James River golfers finished third when the Three Rivers District golfers competed at the Botetourt Golf & Swim Club last week. Floyd County continued to dominate the district regular season.
Floyd shot a team score of 313 to win the round again at the BG&SC. Isaiah Cantrell of the Buffaloes was medalist with a 75 as Floyd had three scores in the 70s.
Radford finished second as a team with a 328 and River was close behind at 333. Next came Glenvar at 365 and Carroll County had 388. Alleghany did not participate as a student on the team passed away in the days prior to the match.
Dylan Hicks led James River with a season’s best score of 77, following by Ryan Steger at 81. Also scoring for the Knights were Josh Krepps at 87 and Sam Bell at 88.
The Knights were scheduled to play at the Botetourt Golf & Swim Club on Monday of this week but that was cancelled due to inclement weather. The Knights will add a match at the Botetourt course on September 22 with Glenvar, Alleghany and Greenbrier East joining James River.
Next Monday the district schools will play at the River Course, hosted by Radford.
