The James River volleyball team was scheduled to open Region 2C volleyball play on Tuesday on the road. The Knights were scheduled to play at Floyd County, a Three Rivers District opponent.
There are 13 teams in the tournament and River is the 11th seed. Floyd comes in as the sixth seed and two other Three Rivers teams, Glenvar and Giles, are seeded first and fourth. If the Knights were able to pull the upset on Tuesday they would play tonight against Appomattox, the third seeded team, at Appomattox.
The tournament is a four-day affair, with quarterfinals tonight, semifinals on Thursday and the championship game on Saturday. Only the winner of the tournament advances to the state tourney.
River came into the tournament with a 1-9 record. The Knights were scheduled to play Radford in the regular season finale last week but got stuck in traffic due to an accident and the match had to be cancelled.
