For the first time in years James River High School was the site of a youth basketball camp on June 6-9. Coach Ethan Humphries and his assistants and staff conducted the camp for kids. “We used it as a fundraiser, but I am a strong believer in that it’s a win-win for all involved,” said Humphries. “Our players get to give back and learn some new skills communicating and leading the kids. We hope the campers had a blast, learned something new, and seek out more playing opportunities. We wanted to give them the vision of what it would be like to wear a James River uniform one day. We’ll look to grow and build upon the experience for next year’s camp.” The team will be holding a fundraising captain’s choice golf tournament at the Botetourt Golf & Swim Club on Saturday, August 20.
