The James River golfers will have a Three Rivers District match today at the Olde Mill Golf Club in Laurel Fork. The match will be hosted by Patrick County.
Last Thursday the Knights were in Roanoke County for a match hosted by Glenvar at the Hanging Rock Golf Club. It was a nine-hole match due to extreme heat, and the match was interrupted by thunder for 30 minutes about an hour in.
As usual, Floyd County had the low score. This time the Buffaloes carded 146 over nine holes to finish first. Radford was second at 159 followed by host Glenvar at 162, Alleghany at 166, Carroll County at 167, Patrick County at 171 and James River finished at 175.
Hunter Crist of Radford was medalist with a nine-hole 33 and four golfers shot 37, three of whom play for Floyd. River’s low score was 40 by both Mason Gilliland and Landon Bolling. Mason Francis shot 46 and Elizabeth Johnson came in at 49 for the Knights.
