Knights will host Radford in volleyball Thursday

The James River volleyball team will be home for two Three Rivers District matches this week. River was scheduled to host Alleghany on Tuesday and Radford is coming to Springwood on Thursday.

The Knights dropped two Three Rivers matches last week to fall to 2-5 in Three Rivers action. On Tuesday River traveled to undefeated Giles and lost to the Spartans in three sets, 25-14, 25-23 and 25-13. Morgan Marshall had 15 kills and Sage Beddingfield had eight.

River was at Glenvar on Thursday where the girls battled the host Highlanders in a five-set marathon. The Knights came from behind to tie the match twice before eventually losing, 25-17, 22-25, 25-15, 22-25 and 15-9.

Marshall had 21 kills in this one and Beddingfield had 20 kills and five aces. Kjersten DeHaven had 26 digs for the Knights.

River came into the week at 6-12 overall.
