The James River volleyball team has two matches scheduled for this week to end the regular season, both on the road. The Knights were at Patrick County on Tuesday and they’ll go to Hillsville Thursday to take on Carroll County.
Three Rivers District athletic directors voted not to have a district tournament this season, so this week’s matches will be the last before the Region 2C tournament. River comes into the week with a 14-7 overall record and a 6-4 record in district matches.
Last Thursday the Knights hosted Floyd County in their last home match of the regular season. River won in four sets, 25-13, 23-25, 25-16 and 25-16 on “Senior Night.” Seniors Chloe Helmandollar, Sydnee Breeding and Makenna Saville were recognized.
“They have contributed to our success over the last three years and will be truly missed,” said River coach Linsey Firebaugh.
