James River swept two Three Rivers District opponents in volleyball last week as the Knights improved to 9-3 on the season. River beat Giles and Alleghany, both in three sets.
Against Giles, River won 25-16, 25-14 and 25-12. The Knights had 35 kills and 13 aces for the match. Linsey Bailey had 12 kills and Bailey Marshall had 11.
Against Alleghany, the Knights won 25-17, 25-15 and 25-20, knocking down 38 kills as a team. Marshall had 14 and Bailey had 12. Lillian Clevenger had 17 assists.
The Knights take on two more district teams this week, with Radford scheduled for Tuesday at home and a trip to Floyd County on Thursday. Next Tuesday, Oct. 3, the Knights are at Carroll County.
