Lana Jean Simpson Kyle, 76, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Lana was born August 2, 1945 in Clifton Forge and was the daughter of the late Landon Burks and Mary Elizabeth Miller Simpson. She lived in Roanoke County prior to moving to Fincastle in 2003.
Lana enjoyed reading, shopping, fellowship with family and friends, and loved animals. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Lana was a member of Fincastle United Methodist Church and the Women’s Bible Study, and retired from the DMV after 13 years of service.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Donald R. Kyle; sons: Kevin (Heike) Kyle of Winchester, and Brian Kyle of Roanoke; daughter, Kathie (Chad) Bean of Richmond; grandchildren, Kingston Bean, Kyla Bean, Madison Kyle, Logan Kyle, and Landon Kyle; her brother, Landon (Patricia) Simpson, Jr. of Richmond; and nephews, Joshua Simpson and Mason Simpson.
A service celebrating Lana’s life will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Fincastle United Methodist Church, 136 South Church Street, Fincastle with the Rev. James D. Williams and the Rev. Kwangmin Shin officiating. A private burial will be in Godwin Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday.
