Larry David Firebaugh, 81, of Troutville, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at his home.
Larry was born in Roanoke on March 20, 1940 and lived in Troutville all of his life. He was the son of the late Joseph W. and Esther N. Camper Firebaugh.
Larry worked for Roanoke Gas Company, retiring after 38 years of service. He was a 1958 graduate of Troutville High School, served in the Virginia Army National Guard for eight years, 29th Infantry Association, and attended Cave Rock Baptist Church. He was an avid Virginia Tech fan and NASCAR fan, but was a bigger fan of his great-niece Brennan and enjoyed watching her play basketball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Reba Firebaugh, and is survived by his brother, Roger Firebaugh; niece, Amanda Firebaugh; great-niece Brennan Firebaugh, all of Buchanan; and many friends from Hardee’s and Brugh’s Mill.
A service honoring Larry’s life was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 5 at Rader Funeral Home, Daleville with Pastor John Graybill and Pastor Mark Childers officiating. Burial was in Trinity Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
