The Lord Botetourt girls are the top seed in the Region 3D basketball tournament and were scheduled to host eighth-seeded Christiansburg on Tuesday in Daleville in a quarterfinal game. Botetourt takes a 20-3 record into the Region tournament.
Results were too late for publication, but other Tuesday games had second-seeded Staunton River at home against seventh-seeded Hidden Valley, third-seeded Magna Vista hosting seventh-seed Bassett and fourth-seeded Abingdon hosting fifth-seeded Pulaski County.
The tournament moves to Pulaski County High on Thursday for a semifinal doubleheader, and if Botetourt won Tuesday the Cavaliers will play the Abingdon-Pulaski winner. The championship game is Saturday at Pulaski County High at 1 p.m. in the first game of a doubleheader with the boys’ championship. Both finalists make the state tournament and the Region champion gets to host a state quarterfinal game.
