The Lord Botetourt girls defeated Staunton River last week to open their Blue Ridge District soccer season with a victory. The Cavaliers took a 6-1 win on the Daleville pitch.
The Cavs led just 1-0 at the half on a goal by Emma Rice, assisted by Bria Harvey. Staunton River tied the game early in the second half, but from there it was all LB. Rice scored two more goals to polish off a three goal “hat trick” and Ella Fletcher, Amelia Dietrich and Harvey all scored second half goals.
With the win LB is 2-3 overall. The Cavaliers have three home games this week. They were scheduled to play at home against William Fleming Tuesday, at home against Salem Thursday and home to Northside on Friday. On Monday, April 22, they have a fourth straight home game when they host E.C. Glass.
