Down two points at the half, the Lord Botetourt girls came out on a mission after intermission to take a 61-40 win over Floyd County in a basketball game in Daleville last Thursday.
The Cavs trailed 25-23 at halftime and were still down 34-33 after the third quarter, then exploded in the final stanza to outscore Floyd 28-6. It was a stunning turnaround against a talented Floyd team.
“We were able to get our half court press working efficiently to turn them over and force them into bad shots,” said LB coach Renee Favaro. “The 28 points in the fourth quarter was our highest quarter output of the season.”
Taylor Orange scored 11 points in the fourth quarter alone and finished with 21 to lead the Cavs. Ally Spangler had 16 points and seven assists, while Ainsley Anderson had eight points and seven assists.
The win lifted LB to 12-3 on the season and the girls had a Friday night game with William Byrd postponed. This week the Cavaliers have a three-game week with a home game against Northside Tuesday, a trip to Hidden Valley tonight, Wednesday, and a game against William Fleming in Roanoke Friday.
