The Lord Botetourt girls took sole possession of first place in the Blue Ridge District with a convincing 4-0 soccer win over Northside on the Daleville pitch last Thursday.
Botetourt and Northside were both 2-0 in the BRD prior to last week’s showdown but Botetourt was dominant in dropping the Vikings to their first district loss. Emma Rice scored twice for LB and Mia D’Arpa and Autumn Estrada had one goal each. Cadence Peters, Allie Spangler and Samarah Hambrick-King had assists for the Cavs.
Lord Botetourt also defeated William Byrd in Vinton last week, 2-1, on April 12. Rice and Mikel Johnson had goals for the Cavs and Hambrick-King and Lauren Uoetinen had assists.
The Cavs come into the week at 6-2 overall and they were scheduled to play William Fleming in Roanoke on Tuesday. The girls will host Brookville in a non-district match tonight.
