The Lord Botetourt girls took third and the boys were fourth in the Region 3D swim meet at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center last week. The Hidden Valley girls and William Byrd boys won region championships.

“What an amazing meet everyone had,” said LB coach Ashley Safrit. “We are so very proud of all the accomplishments that were achieved.”

The top five individuals and top four relays qualified for the state meet in Richmond Saturday at the Swim RVA pool. Qualifiers from LB included Zeke Wolfe, Kai Wolfe, Griffin Davidson, Hunter Dillon, James Lively, Angelina Zeidan, Layne Jones, Emily Hanson, Katie Cross. Alternates are Andres Hernandez, Sidney Saunders, Isabelle Fletcher and Taylor Lisle.

The Cavaliers had 25 personal bests at the regional and two girls placed first in three events. Layne Jones won the 200 Free and 100 Back and was part of the winning 400 Free Relay. Emily Hanson was also on that relay and took first in the 100 Free. Joining those two on the winning relay team were Katie Cross and Angelina Zeidan.

Second places went to Hanson in the 50 Free, Cross in the 100 Breast and the 200 Free Relay team of  Cross, Hanson, Jones and Zeidan. Taking third in the region were Zeidan in the 200 Free and 100 Fly and two boys’ relay teams. Zeke Wolfe, Kai Wolfe, Griffin Davidson and Hunter Dillon took third in the 200 Medley Relay while Zeke and Kai Wolfe joined Davidson and James Lively to place third in the 400 Free Relay.

“Out of 22 events swam, we had at swimmers qualify for states in 15 of those events,” said Safrit.
