The Lord Botetourt and James River cross country teams will be competing in the annual “Knights Crossing” meet at Green Hill Park in Roanoke County Saturday. The meet is hosted by Cave Spring High School.
This year’s Knights Crossing will be the largest ever, according to Cave Spring girls coach Laurence Loesel. As of last week there were 67 high schools entered along with 52 middle school and seven elementary schools. In addition to many teams from Virginia there will be schools from Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia at the meet.
The high school races are divided into the “Red” division for larger schools and out of state teams while the “Black” division is for smaller schools. The “White” races are for all runners who are not in the top 10 of their teams.
