The Lord Botetourt volleyball team will have back-to-back matches this week as the girls look for their first win of the season. The Cavaliers were scheduled to host Cave Spring on Tuesday and tonight they head to Blacksburg.
The Cavs dropped two matches to open the season last week. They opened at Abingdon and lost in four sets. The host Falcons won the first two sets, both by 25-11 scores, but LB bounced back to take the third, 25-15. Abingdon then put it away with a 25-21 win in the fourth set.
“We came out slowly against Abingdon but came back and showed fight, winning the third set and losing a close fourth set,” said Botetourt coach Samantha Wilkins.
Gracelynn Clark led the Cavs with nine kills and four blocks.
LB had their home opener last Thursday and lost to a strong Blacksburg team in three sets,
“We’re a young team with a lot of potential,” said Wilkins. “We learned a lot about ourselves this week and will regroup to be ready for a tough week against Cave Spring and look forward to seeing Blacksburg again.”
