The Lord Botetourt and James River High School football teams will both have scrimmages this week as the football season nears. The Cavaliers will be at Emory & Henry University on Thursday and the Knights are at Craig County Friday.
Lord Botetourt had a scrimmage last Saturday morning at Hampden-Sydney College against New Kent High School. The Cavaliers scored four times and didn’t let the Trojans into the end zone in the scrimmage.
“It was a little sloppy but it was okay,” said LB coach Jamie Harless. “We had four two-way starters out.”
The Cavaliers will take on Dobyns-Bennett High from Tennessee this Thursday at the Emory & Henry University field. It will be a good test for the Cavaliers as Dobyns-Bennett is typically one of the top high schools in Tennessee.
The Cavaliers will open the season on Saturday, August 23, against Rye Cove High in another trip to Emory & Henry. The game is a week earlier than other Virginia High School League state teams as LB had a tough time finding a 10th game before matching up with Rye Cove.
