The James River and Lord Botetourt swimmers competed, along with William Fleming and Northside, at a meet at the Botetourt Family YMCA last week.
In the girls meet Lord Botetourt swept all three opponents while James River beat Fleming and Northside while losing to LB. In the boys meet River beat Lord Botetourt, 32-22, and tied both Fleming, 36-36, and Northside, 34-34 despite having just three swimmers. Lord Botetourt’s boys lost all three.
It was “Senior Night” for both the James River and LB teams. Addison Jones and Kaeli Berry were recognized from James River while Sarah Frederickson, Anna Harris, Hanna Mizuba and Ella Shuler were honored from Lord Botetourt.
Heat winners for Lord Botetourt included Olivia Nicley in the 200 IM, Hanna Mizuba in the 50 Free and 100 Back, Anna Harris in the 100 Breast and the 200 Medley, 200 Free and 400 Free relays.
For James River boys Kingston Bean won the 50 and 100 Freestyle, Joel Barber took second in 200 IM and first in the 100 Breaststroke and Austin Myers was first in the 200 Freestyle and third in the 100 Backstroke
In the girls meet River’s Riley Persinger won the 100 Free and was third in the 100 Back. Berry took third in the 200 IM and the team of Berry, Addison Jones, Lydia Jones and Persinger finished third in the 200 Medley Relay and second in the 200 Free Relay.
