The girls will be home and the boys will be in Roanoke when Lord Botetourt opens the spring soccer season on Friday night.
The LB boys team is comprised of 19 players, including a heavy junior class of nine along with five seniors. Coach Tim Wright is excited to start the season after losing the entire 2020 season due to the coronavirus.
“Over the last two weeks in training I have been impressed watching the team play,” he said. “I feel like there is a natural flow to their play already which I think is a result of their talent level, coupled with the relationships they have built with each other over the years.”
Giuseppe D’Arpa returns to coach the girls team. The Cavaliers have just two seniors, Briana Myers and Balor Harold. LB has 10 juniors on the varsity roster.
“The girls are looking forward to getting out on the pitch once again, as am I,” said D’Arpa. “We missed not having a season so it will be a surprise to see what all the teams have to offer.”
